Heaven Hill's Toasted Program Comes to Rye
After the success of Elijah Craig Toasted Bourbon, Heaven Hill brought the same idea to rye in 2024. They take fully mature Elijah Craig Straight Rye and give it a second maturation in a custom-toasted new oak barrel from Independent Stave — a long, hot toast that embeds extra vanilla, caramel and a whisper of smoke into the wood. Because the finishing barrel is new and charred, it legally keeps its "Kentucky Straight Rye" designation.
Aroma & Palate
The nose is the star and near-universally praised: vanilla and crème brûlée over toasted oak, with caramel-toffee, cinnamon baking spice, torched orange and a nutty almond-praline note. The palate follows the sweet, oak-forward path — vanilla, toasted oak and cinnamon with milk chocolate, brown sugar and a gentle peppery rye spice around the edges.
